The above diagram represents a branch of my maternal heritage, the Glasheen Family, with a starting point of reference being the 1880 Federal Censes. I then followed several censes entries and other forms to complete a full picture. While I feel confident in the representation, I cannot rule out there was an additional child who was born and died between the censes periods. I also must sort out Honora’s true birth year, but I will correct that given time. I am using this spelling but have also found the name to be spelled Hanorah. The tree has an unconventional design due to the number of children and spacing considerations, but all of the children are Edward and Honora’s. I will construct smaller segments of the tree with spouses and children in future posts.
Edward Glasheen and Hanora Quinlan had emigrated from the region around Tipperary, Ireland. I am still searching for ship manifests, but there are birth documents that support this. The 1880 Us census shows Edward Glasheen and Honora living at 173 Vandenburgh Avenue in Troy NY. Micheal is age 7, James is 5 and Edward Leo is age 3. While Honora tended to the children and the home, Edward worked in the Iron Mill in Troy. Below is an edited copy of the 1880 U.S. Census that only shows this entry.
