The Children of Anne Carron (1847-1928) and Bernard McCauley (1846-1902).

,

Together they had ten children.  There will be an initial post on each of them with subsequent posts to follow over time.

Bernard McCauley (II)

(November 29, 1977 – December 1923)

Bernard McCauley was the sixth Child born to Anne Carron and Bernard McCauley; I was not to find an entry of his birth in the Civil records but was able to locate this church record of his baptism.  There may have been a misspelling in archiving, and it may take some extensive searches to locate the record.  Below is the Catholic Records entry and on the date of December 2, 1877, you see the entry for Bernard McCawley and Ann Carron.  If the civil entry was compiled from this record and the way the parent’s names were spelled, it is likely archived in the same way.  Even with that fact, I have not found the birth record with the McCawley spelling.  The verification is in the same names of the parents and that the family resided in the Tate.  Bernard’s male baptism sponsor’s name has a smudge on the record.  To my eye, at first, I was reading the name Kate, but as Bessy Carron is also listed as a sponsor, and so that must be the female sponsor and possibly relative of Ann’s.  I think it unlikely there would be two female sponsors.  Instead, I examine the handwriting on the entire page of entries, and it seems closer to Patt McCauley.  According to property records and censes of the time, there were other McCauley Families who populated the “Tate”.  So, it may even have been Bernard’ (I) brother or a cousin.

Bernard met and Married Susan Reilly and together they had two sons: Bernard and Thomas.  If they experienced a happy family life, it would have been short lived. The particulars of the story will be shared in future posts, but I believe it is better to first meet people at their best.  To that end I have attached a wedding photo of Bernard McCauley (II) and Susan Reilly.
