Together they had ten children. There will be an initial post on each of them with subsequent posts to follow over time.
Ellen McCauley
(8/17/1886 – 7/24/1966)
Ellen is the eighth Child born to Anne Kerron and Bernard McCauley. I have not been able to locate a birth or baptism document for her, which has caused some confusion during my research as some documents pointed to an 1881 birth year and others indicate a later birth year such as 1884 or 1886. I was able to pull both her date of birth and date of death from a United States social security document. She would have filled this one out on her own. In conjunction with this I consulted my aunt, Patricia McCauley Matthews. She believes that Ellen would have been born closer as siblings to Susan and Bernard, as decisions and alliances would seem made them closer peers in the family.
In the early 1920’s Ellen would move from the New York City area to Rensselaer, New York, and the orphaned boys of Bernard McCauley (II); Bernard III and Thomas would follow her lead. Bernard (III) settled in Rensselaer and Thomas following and then moving out to Rochester. All three are buried in Holy Sepulchre cemetery in Rensselaer, NY.
Ellen Married John Aunchman in the Bronx in 1906. They had three children; Gladys, Vincent, and Eileen, who died at a young age. Below is a photo of John Aunchman and Ellen McCauley Aunchman and between them I believe is Bernard McCauley (III) and Bernard (IV). The photo would have been taken at their Nelson Avenue home in the city of Rensselaer and I also suggest it was taken in the spring of 1936, about six months after Bernard (IV)’s birth in October 1934.
