Together they had ten children. There will be an initial post on each of them with subsequent posts to follow over time.
Phillip McCauley
(8/16/1875 – 7/13/1914)
Phillip was the fifth child born to Anne and Bernard McCauley. The entry of his birth in the civil record is shown below. He left Ireland arriving in New York city in 1899 at the age of twenty-four. The 1900 United States Censes shows Phillip living with his older brother Edward and his wife Nellie (Phelan) along with the rest of the Phelan family at East 143 Street in the Bronx. Phillips occupation is listed a bricklayer, and it is quite possible both Edward and Phillip were working as bricklayers for the Fenlon Construction company along with their brother Patrick.
Before 1906 Phillip met and Married Lenora “Nora” Sullivan. I have not been able to locate a marriage certificate for them through the Ancestry database. A good challenge to readers would be to search the NYC Marriage records database during the period 1900-1907 to see if they were married in the city. The couple had five Children. The four boys were Phillip, John Bernard, Cornelius, and Edward. The one daughter was named Norrie Anna McCauley. I have not yet acquired a photo of Phillip, but I do have one of Nora Sullivan. When Phillip died in 1914, she became the head of the household and completed raising the children on her own. A sign of a strong-willed person. A special thanks to Kathleen McCauley Griffon for sharing this photo of Nora Sullivan McCauley.
